Witchery Wine

Napa Valley AVA

A high-end, small production winery in Napa Valley

With a name like ‘Witchery,’ you’re probably thinking of magic, mystery, or broomsticks - but that’s not what Witchery Wine is about. This winery takes its name from the original meaning of the word, tracing its roots back to 1546, back when ‘witchery’ simply meant ‘an irresistible fascination.’ For Witchery Wine, this ‘irresistible fascination’ is the region of Napa Valley and specifically, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Witchery Wine is a small production winery that specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon from different appellations within Napa Valley - including Diamond Mountain, Spring Mountain, Oakville, and Howell Mountain. The goal is to honor both Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon by crafting premium wines that respect the traditions of those who came before, while faithfully expressing the unique character of the Valley.

Witchery Wine was founded in 2009 by Gordon Larum and Richard and Dawn Hawthorne. In 2013, Patrick and Marie Carpenter joined the Witchery Family and share the same vision as its original founders. Gordon Larum was born and raised in Napa Valley (St. Helena) and from the start, was destined to be in the wine industry. He got his first job at Beringer Vineyards straight out of high school, and he was instantly hooked. Working for some of the Valley’s biggest labels and its hidden gems over the years, Gordon learned wine from the inside out. He now runs a brokerage, his own boutique winery tour company, and of course, is actively involved in his high-end, small production winery - Witchery Wine.

The Witchery wines are made by Grant Long Jr., who some say is a ‘leader in the new wave of Napa Valley winemakers.’ Before establishing his own label (Aonair Wines) in 2008, Grant worked at several wineries gaining both winemaking and business experience. Most recently, he was a partner in G Wine Cellars and spent several years in sales and marketing with Reverie Winery on Diamond Mountain. He points to his father who was a lifelong wine lover and fine wine collector, as one of the great influences in his life.

We are very proud to feature this tiny garagiste producer with our wine club members. Enjoy this bottling that perfectly represents a passion for Cabernet Sauvignon and Napa Valley. Cheers!
