Wine Guerrilla stands up against many of the top names in the region
Wine Guerrilla is a growing venture in Sonoma County, reflecting a unique approach to winemaking and marketing under the guidance of owner/winemaker Bruce Patch. The small winery was formed in 2004, bringing together Bruce’s passion for California’s native grape, Zinfandel, the exquisite wine region of Sonoma County, and his relationships with many of the region’s best known growers. His wine brand currently includes nine different Zinfandels, each a single vineyard designate from Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Dry Creek Valley, with a unique approach to showing off Zinfandel’s distinctive characteristics.
Bruce Patch wasn’t always in the wine industry, and held a prior career in the music business working in promotion, artist management, publishing and production. However, he yearned for a quieter lifestyle and moved to Sonoma with his longtime girlfriend in 1997. Once settled in, Bruce befriended several winemakers and decided to use his promotion and management skills to broker their wines. He formed the company Wine Guerrilla in 1997 and spent the following year selling wine throughout California. Bruce also gained experience running the national sales team for six years at nearby Deerfield Ranch Winery.
In 2004, he was ready for his own wine label and turned Wine Guerrilla into his own winery of small production Zinfandels from throughout Sonoma County. Bruce’s 2007 vintage put Wine Guerrilla on the map at the Zinfandel Advocates and Producers Grand Tasting, where it stood up against many of the top names in the region. He’s been Sonoma’s Zinsation ever since!
