Vinemark Cellars
Paso Robles AVA
Award-Winning wines made in very limited quantities and that are definitely hard to find!
Founded by Winemaker Mark Wasserman in 2011, Vinemark Cellars crafts small-lot wines from premium select vineyards throughout California, including vineyards in Santa Ynez, Paso Robles, Monterey and Napa Valley. Mark's philosophy is that "wine is made in the vineyard," and as such, has decided not to limit himself to one estate vineyard - he instead prefers having the opportunity to work with multiple vineyard sites, since each site produces fruit with its own unique flavors and attributes that result in a wide range of terroir-driven wine offerings. Mark is pleased to offer wines with bold fruit, complexity and delightfully balanced tannins through his award-winning Vinemark Cellars entity.
It all started when Mark Wasserman was growing up in Ontario, California, watching his Grandfather 'Papa Joe' make wine in his basement for friends and family. Mark was always fascinated by the process, and as he got older, he became more and more interested in wine. One year, he was attending the Ojai Wine Festival and was introduced to a home winemaking club called 'Cellarmasters.' He joined the club and it initiated his own experience with winemaking, a passion that has been with him ever since. Mark's wines improved over the years and began winning Gold Medals at home winemaking competitions. It was then that Mark had the confidence to start winemaking commercially, and Vinemark Cellars was launched with the release of the 2011 vintage.
Mark currently works with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Chardonnay, Primitivo, Sangiovese and Pinot Noir. All of the wines are made in very limited quantities and can be found for sale either on the winery website or at a select few wine bars in Southern California. These wines are definitely hard to find! Vinemark Cellars currently uses space in a larger winery and although they do not have an official tasting room, the wines are often poured at The Wineyard in Thousand Oaks over the weekends.
Mark primarily works with vineyards on California's Central Coast, as he enjoys the variety of grape varietals that thrive there. From cool-climate loving Pinot Noirs in the Santa Lucia Highlands, to the big reds (Cabernet Sauvignon, Primitivo, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Sirah) coming out of Paso Robles, the opportunities are seemingly endless.
We are pleased to introduced Mark Wasserman and Vinemark Cellars to our Gold Plus! Wine Club members, and hope you enjoy his latest winning bottling. Cheers!
