Celebrating a long tradition of family winemaking, Antonio Silvia carries on his Italian family’s legacy with an artisan winery on California’s North Coast.
Established by Antonio and Julie Silvia in 2015 in the heart of Sonoma Valley, Silvia Cellars carries on Antonio’s Italian wine producing family heritage hailing from the island of Sicily. It is the Silvia family’s hope to capture the best of California’s wine growing appellations and craft approachable, full-bodied, well-balanced wines in the traditional Sicilian winemaking style, as naturally and organically as possible.
Growing up in Sicily, Antonio cherishes his memories of helping out on his family’s vineyard, and he was particularly inspired by his Nonno (grandfather) who had a deep passion for vendemmia (harvesting) of the vines and crafting small amounts of wine to be enjoyed at the family dinner table. The Silvia family vineyard dates back to 1865 and has amazingly supplied wine to five generations of the Silvia family.
When Antonio moved to California and began visiting wine country in Napa and Sonoma Counties, his passion for wine was reignited and he decided to carry on his grandfather’s legacy by starting his own winery with the same values of family and hard work. Silvia Cellars was ultimately born.
Antonio and his wife Julie, a Texas native, enjoy seeking out the best vineyard locations possible for Silvia Cellars, focusing on those that practice sustainably and organically throughout California’s top wine producing regions. The family currently sources fruit from premium sites in Sonoma County, Mendocino County, Dry Creek Valley, Suisun Valley, Napa Valley, Amador County, and Paso Robles, from growers who are renowned for their expertise and consistency. Plus, at each location, vineyard practices are carried out under the guidance and instruction of Antonio and Julie to ensure that quality standards are maintained from start to finish. It is easy to see that the Silvias take great pride and joy in their winery endeavor while upholding their promise of excellence and delivering premium quality wines.
Silvia Cellars offers a range of small-lot wines, priding themselves on finding the best varietal and region/vineyard combination, including Old Vine Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, Pinot Noir from Mendocino County, Chardonnay from Sonoma, and a Red Blend from Suisun Valley (just east of Napa Valley). These wines are award-winning and made in extremely limited quantities, meaning they are nearly impossible to find outside the winery and tasting room.
Silvia Cellars wines are currently available for tasting at Wine Gallery in San Carlos, an intimate tasting room lounge featuring a unique range of wine producers and complementing gourmet food selections.

Antonio Silvia - Winemaker
A fifth generation winemaker, Antonio Silvia is happily upholding his family’s Italian winemaking tradition by crafting fantastic, small-lot bottlings from California’s top wine producing regions. It is his desire to feature the best varietals from the best California appellations, by seeking out premium growers who practice sustainable or organic winegrowing practices. His wines for Silvia Cellars are made to be approachable, full-bodied, and well balanced, and also offered at affordable prices that are attainable for all, not just a few.
So far, Antonio Silvia’s efforts have certainly paid off as several of his wines are being recognized both locally and internationally with prestigious medals and 90+ ratings. We are happy to introduce Antonio Silvia and his new namesake winery to our Gold Wine Club members. Enjoy!
