The adventures of two sisters, with the help of their grandfather, making it together in the world of wine
Established in 2015 by sisters Channing Jones and Westleigh Emord, Seinna Wine crafts very limited amounts of premium Cabernet Sauvignon from Santa Barbara County. The sisters were inspired by their grandfather, Larry Hogan, who is the owner and winemaker of Stone Pine Estate and Sagebrush Annie’s, both successful boutique wineries in the southeastern corner of the Cuyama Valley (about an hour north of Ojai, California). As children, Channing and Westleigh remember picking grapes and running among the vines and poppies of their grandfather’s vineyards, and now as adults, they are continuing their family winemaking business with a vision of their own. We are happy to share this wonderful winery and its amazing wines with our Garagiste Wine Club members.
Born and raised in Ventura, California, Channing and Westleigh both developed a love for the wine industry early on. Channing had experiences traveling through Europe and its famed wine growing regions before settling in Santa Barbara and working in direct to consumer sales in the wine industry for eight years. She is also currently working on her Level 1 Sommelier certificate. Westleigh, on the other hand, studied Wine Business Strategies at Sonoma State University and has held various wine marketing and tasting room positions throughout California. The two sisters were closely involved with wine for several years before their grandfather, Larry Hogan, encouraged them to step out of their comfort zone and take a leap together.
With his help, Channing and Westleigh developed Seinna Wine (‘Seinna’ is ‘Annie’s’ spelled backwards, a nod to Larry Hogan’s Sagebrush Annie’s brand) in 2015. The poppy, which graces each wine label, is a tribute to their childhood, growing up between the vines alongside the wild California poppies. Both symbols pay homage to their family, in keeping the Seinna label close to their hearts.
Although Seinna Wine is still very new, it has allowed the sisters to learn and grow as individuals, while also growing as a ‘sister team.’ It has encouraged them to acknowledge their creativity, passion, and love for the art and science of winemaking - and it has already resulted in some fabulous wines. Larry Hogan helps Channing and Seinna with the winemaking responsibilities and the sisters definitely consider him their mentor. The journey has been so meaningful to Larry Hogan that he keeps a bottle of each of Seinna’s vintages at his home, on display.
Looking to the future, the sisters hope to introduce more varietals, but they will always stay true to their favorite, Cabernet Sauvignon. We hope you enjoy this special bottling from a rising star winery. Cheers!
