Sonoma County region

His world-class wines are a true testament to his worldly experience, incredible knowledge and extreme attention to detail

S.P. Drummer Wines are produced by Scott Peterson, a seasoned winemaker and consultant with over twenty years of winemaking experience in California, South America, and Europe. Scott developed an interest in wine while working the restaurant trade in Sacramento and decided to pursue a future in the industry.

He went on to study enology at UC Davis, and participated in internships at such reputable wineries as Iron Horse Vineyards and Château St. Jean before holding winemaker roles at Villa Mt. Eden, Conn Creek and Kendall-Jackson – not a bad repertoire to build winemaking experience from! Scott was also mentored by the “Father of California winemaking” Andre Tchelistcheff, whose vast knowledge and scientific approach to winemaking helped shape the winemaker Scott Peterson has become today.

By 1998, Scott was able to pursue his own dream of starting a winemaking consulting business and producing his own wine, called S.P. Drummer. The name S.P. Drummer, by the way, pays homage to Scott’s childhood when he played the drums for six years as a member of the Fife and Drums Corps. He has since become attached to the instrument.

Today, Scott balances his time between making his own wines in the Napa Valley, while at the same time consulting for wineries in Argentina and Chile. Scott’s world class wines are a true testament to his worldly experience, incredible knowledge, and extreme attention to detail.
