Ramazzotti Vineyards Bandierra
Sonoma County region
A boutique, family-owned winery located in the heart of Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, Ramazzotti Wines produces some of the region’s most celebrated Italian and local varieties.
The story of Ramazzotti Wines dates back to 1958 when Joe (Giuseppe) Ramazzotti immigrated from the beautiful Le Marche region of Italy to the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County, California. Joe came with his mother, Yolanda, his father, Germano, and his two sisters, Maria Lucia and Romana. A few years later, Yolanda and Germano had two more children, Adriano and Linda, who completed the Ramazzotti family. As they settled in the Dry Creek Valley, they realized their deep love of Italian farming, winemaking, and La Terra (the earth) would be perfectly suited to the expansive, rustic region that surrounded them.
For the Ramazzotti family, loving the earth and all of its gifts is a tradition that has been passed down for generations, and it has guided everything they’ve done in Sonoma County.
As Joe grew up, he naturally followed in his father’s footsteps and became a local grape grower by 1975. It was easy to be inspired by his family’s Italian winemaking traditions, in addition to the lush grape growing country in Sonoma County, a region especially known for its prized wine grapes and premium, world-class vineyards. In 2002, Joe and his wife Norma founded Ramazzotti Wines with the goal of producing traditional local wines, while specializing in Italian varietals and blends. They have since added a second label, Bandiera, which this month’s featured wine was crafted under.
Family is at the center of everything at Ramazzotti Wines, which truly exemplifies what a family-owned and operated winery is all about. While Joe Ramazzotti is the master viticulturist and winemaker, he is also joined by his wife Norma as the Tasting Room and Wine Club Manager, his son Travis as the Sales and Operations Manager, and Marie (Joe’s sister) as the lead Tasting Room Ambassador. This reflection of family and the value of working hard together as a team is felt in the warm welcome each visitor receives at the family tasting room in downtown Geyserville, and it’s tasted in the high
quality of Ramazzotti’s wines.
To deliver the highest quality wines possible, the Ramazzottis know that it all starts in the vineyard. They currently own and manage seven vineyard properties across Sonoma County - all of which are sustainably farmed and carefully cared for firsthand by the Ramazzotti family. This ensures that the vines and fruit are given the most meticulous attention, and held to the highest standards, in order to deliver premium, terroir-driven wines year after year.
It is a pleasure to introduce Ramazzotti Wines to our wine club members, and hope you enjoy one of their latest achievements. Cheers!
