Plank Walker Wines

Napa Valley AVA

A passionate winemaker staying balanced, focused and committed to grace and style

Owned by third generation Napa Valley winemaker, Greg Lawson, Plank Walker Wines is one of the newest ultra-boutique winery projects to pop up in Napa Valley. Since 2012, Plank Walker has focused on just one wine, a Bordeaux-style blend of the French region’s five noble grape varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The grapes are sourced from Napa’s top vineyards and most prestigious sub-regions, including properties in St. Helena and Oakville. With a total case production of under 1,000 cases each year, this wine is incredibly rare and very hard to get your hands on.

Greg Lawson also serves as winemaker for Plank Walker, focusing on balance, elegance, and food friendliness rather than overwhelming styles with overripe fruit and high alcohol. With a number of wine awards and high ratings earned over the years, Greg is proudly upholding his family’s Napa winemaking tradition, going back to his father who made Pinot Noirs in the 80’s and 90’s, and to his grandfather who served as the first president of Beringer Winery after it was purchased from the Beringer Family by Nestle in 1971. Greg also owns and makes wine for two other winery projects, Valley Legend, a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and Prosper, a Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.

In Greg’s eyes, blending is the true art of great winemaking, which is what the Plank Walker brand is all about – blending varietals together harmoniously, while working together and making the sum of the parts much greater than any individual piece. In fact, the name ‘Plank Walker’ represents Greg’s approach to this wine – staying balanced and focused, committed to grace and style, yet approaching the edge, pushing the limits, and “walking the plank” to achieve great winemaking.

Greg Lawson makes his wines without compromise and focuses on the true fundamentals of winemaking. With three successful winery projects to his name and a collection of award-winning, limited production wines, Greg is a passionate winemaker that we are proud to support and feature. We hope you enjoy the inaugural release from his latest project. Cheers!
