When the time came to raise a family, Tony Parkinson and his wife followed their love of Shiraz to the heart of beautiful McLaren Vale.

One of McLaren Vale's great family wineries and iconic destinations, Penny's Hill Estate was established in 1988 by Tony Parkinson. Tony grew up on his family's almond orchard, but rather than joining the almond business, he opted to teach school for several years before starting a very successful advertising agency. When the time came to raise a family of his own, Tony and his wife looked to the countryside and settled in the heart of beautiful McLaren Vale where they followed their love of Shiraz and planted three premium estate vineyards. Thus was the beginning of Penny's Hill Estate. Winemaker Alexia Roberts has brought countless awards and recognition to the winery, which is especially known for its Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache.

Each and every wine selected for our six different Wine Clubs meets our strict guidelines for quality and rating criteria. Each wine is handcrafted by an authentic, small-production boutique winery with a compelling story to tell like the one above. Since our first Gold Wine Club shipment in 1992, we have added five more impressive Wine Clubs to choose from—each a showcase for highly-rated, sought-after wines you can enjoy as a Gold Medal, wine of the month club member.
