Napa Valley AVA
Focused on celebrating the flavors of Napa Valley
Founded in 2011 by Sean Piper, Napa Vintage is one of Napa Valley’s newest artisan wine labels, focused on celebrating the flavors of Napa Valley by highlighting a different sub region each vintage. The goal is for each bottling to have pure regional character and truly represent and taste like the region that it’s from. Different winemakers produce each vintage, allowing Sean to find appropriate winemakers who specialize in each unique Napa sub region. This idea behind Napa Vintage is totally unique and is proving to be a promising branding approach for the new entity.
Sean Piper grew up around wine country in Napa Valley, living in the south Napa County town of American Canyon and attending Vintage High School. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Coast Guard where he worked as a search and rescue helicopter aviator and flight mechanic, but after years of service, finally decided to follow his passion into wine. His idea for Napa Vintage came about in 2003, but it took many years to begin partnerships with growers and build relationships with the winemakers he admired. By 2011, he was finally ready for his first vintage and teamed up with winemaker Jac Cole to craft a Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, perfectly representing Napa Vintage’s first highlighted Napa sub region with pure Howell Mountain character.
The Napa Vintage logo that you’ll find at the top of the label (wings and the North Star) reflects the inspiration of the sky, the ocean, and the passion of creation - sustainable and environmentally conscious craftsmanship with honor and love. We hope you enjoy this inaugural vintage from Napa Vintage. Cheers!
Jac Cole - Winemaker
Jac Cole (of Spring Mountain, Stags’ Leap, Charles Krug, and Cliff Lede fame) is a master winemaker with over thirty years of winemaking experience in Napa Valley. Jac also lives in Howell Mountain and used his estate Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon to produce this first wine for Napa Vintage - a wine that purely celebrates the distinctive Howell Mountain flavor. Teaming up with Jac Cole proved to be a winning partnership and set the bar quite high for Napa Vintage’s future wines.
