Napa Valley AVA
Two 94 Point Ratings from Wine Enthusiast & Wine News!
Nestled in the fertile hills of Napa Valley’s Stags Leap District lies the historical Ilsley Vineyards, which for three generations has provided grapes for some of Napa Valley’s finest wines and wineries, including Robert Mondavi Winery and Shafer Vineyards. The Ilsley family began growing grapes in 1954, and now over fifty years later with hand-selected grapes from their hillside vineyards, the family has produced two limited production, estate wines that truly capture the essence of Stags Leap District: a Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Merlot. This family winery divides the work between three third-generation siblings and their spouses, each of whom has a full time job and works for the family business as a labor of love. The team is joined by winemaker Craig MacLean who has over 20 years of winemaking experience in the Napa Valley and has carefully crafted each of the winery’s vintages, beginning with the small 489-case release in 2000. Ilsley Vineyards’ wines have consistently garnered 92+ Point scores, which has helped establish the venture as one of the valley’s great, ultra-boutique wineries.
