Napa Valley has been a part of Guillermo Herrera’s life for as long as he can remember. As a child, Guillermo helped his mother harvest grapes and grew up with a great respect and appreciation for the land, especially the expansive ranches and beautiful vineyards that made up the world-renowned wine region of Napa Valley.
Once Guillermo graduated from high school, he started working for a number of different vineyard management companies and honed his viticultural skills on the estates of many of Napa’s greatest. In addition to working full time, Guillermo attended the Napa Viticulture program and went to any UC Davis Seminar that was available. He was a sponge, fascinated with the industry and determined to soak up as much information as possible from anyone who was willing to share it. Guillermo was quickly, and quietly, becoming an incredibly knowledgeable leader in Napa’s viticultural industry.
In 2007, Guillermo, with the help of his wife, founded Heritage Vineyard Management, a full service vineyard management company devoted to growing premier quality wine grapes in Napa, Sonoma, and Solano Counties. His company currently oversees more than 700 vineyard acres from some of the regions’ best vineyard sites. The premium wine grapes he manages are sourced by top estates including Rombauer, Caymus, Prisoner, Jessup, and Quintessa, just to name a few.
It wasn’t long before Guillermo set his sights on the next conceivable project - expanding the family legacy to the winemaking side of the business. With access to some of Napa’s top quality fruit, and the assurance of top notch vineyard management services from his own team, Guillermo founded Herencia Del Valle in 2012.
From the first harvest, it became quite clear that not only had the right decision been made to craft Cabernet Sauvignon, but the meticulously selected vineyards and fruit produced extraordinary results. Since the inaugural 2012 vintage, Herencia Del Valle has turned out a series of wines that have garnered substantial critical acclaim from the wine industry, including Wine Enthusiast, The Tasting Panel, and wine lovers worldwide.
Guillermo’s winemaker, Charles Keller, is just as passionate about winemaking as Guillermo is with vineyards, and together they are making an amazing team crafting beautiful wines from select Napa Valley vines. Herencia, which means heritage, is a dedication to Guillermo’s family and legacy, and Guillermo looks forward to continuing his winemaking dream in the Napa Valley.
