A passion project founded by Greg Adams and Jim Demuth, Gregory James is an ultra-boutique, site-driven wine producer, growing and sourcing grapes from the extreme coastal environment of the West Sonoma Coast. Here, the cool coastal fog dramatically covers the varied terrain and helps produce grapes of remarkable intensity and character. Gregory James’ vineyard sites are tucked away in these rolling hills, bucolic valleys and dramatic ridge tops, each location telling its own unique story. The winery focuses on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that thrive in this cool climate region and showcase the distinct terroir of each vineyard.
The owners behind this namesake winery, Greg Adams and Jim Demuth, met digging in the dirt - Jim on the excavator and Greg sampling soil inside a pit. Although in different professional fields, Jim in construction site development and Greg in vineyard development and management, they found a common bond with their love of wine and quickly built a friendship based on their shared passion for hard work, laughter, and the great outdoors. The two became friends and partners who now create Gregory James wines together.
Greg is the winemaker and vineyard manager for Gregory James. His career has been rather impressive to this point, taking him from vineyard development projects in Argentina to some of the most prestigious wineries in Napa and Sonoma. He runs his own vineyard management consulting business and is proud to have an outstanding list of winery and vineyard clients including Patz & Hall, Lynmar, Red Car, and Freeman Winery. Greg is also the current viticulturist and winemaker for Baker Lane Vineyard. With access to such desirable fruit, Greg is able to source fruit for Gregory James Wines exclusively from vineyards that he manages.
