On a mission to produce Pinot Noir from the best regions and vineyards in California

Founded by two lifelong friends, Chad Richard and Bob Zeches, Furthermore Wines is a boutique new label that explores how Pinot Noir expresses itself throughout California.

Since beginning the journey in 2006, the winery has grown to include ten small-lot, vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs from as far south as Sta. Rita Hills in Santa Barbara and as far north as Yorkville Highlands in Mendocino County, each wine distinctively different and representative of the terroir and region from which it was grown. This unique vision, along with the impressive industry praise and accolades received in the last few years, has made Furthermore Pinot Noir an exciting new addition to California’s Pinot Noir industry.

Prior to entering the wine business professionally, Chad and Bob were what you would consider serial entrepreneurs. Bob is involved with several high-tech startups and has years of experience in science and engineering research, while Chad has a past in digital media and is currently the Sr. V.P. of Business and Corporate Development at YELP (after serving six years as Apple’s Sr. Director of Product Marketing). Both are very successful and business savvy in their own right, and when the idea came about to create a startup around their passion for Pinot Noir, it seemed like a no-brainer.

In 2006, the friends had an opportunity to craft two barrels of Pinot Noir from the Bohemian Vineyard in Freestone, a small community in western Sonoma County. The wine was made at San Francisco’s Crushpad winemaking facility and Furthermore Pinot Noir was suddenly a reality.

Since the beginning, Chad and Bob have made it their mission to collaborate with the best coastal growers throughout California. Each of their wines are made in miniscule quantities and the vineyard sources are among the most respected and desirable in the state. In 2011, the pair purchased their first estate vineyard which they named Nevina, after Chad's daughter, and in 2015, they purchased Graton Ridge Cellars and established another estate vineyard, Graton Ridge Vineyard. This began a new chapter for them by establishing a tasting room and moving their winemaking operations to their current home just north of Sebastopol.

Since the inaugural vintage, the Furthermore team has garnered several awards, including being named the Andre Tchelistcheff Winemakers of the Year at the 2015 San Francisco International Wine Competition. Such a prestigious accolade speaks volumes to the level of artistry and talent this team possesses. We hope you enjoy their latest release. Cheers!

Erica Stancliff - Winemaker

In 2016, Chad Richard and Bob Zeches appointed Erica Stancliff as head winemaker for Furthermore Wines. Erica is the winemaker for her own Trombetta Family Wines label and was formerly part of the winemaking team at Paul Hobbs CrossBarn, Rudd, and Vina Cobos.

She has a degree in viticulture and enology from Fresno State and has also worked as an enologist at Enartis Vinquiry. Erica has followed her winemaking dreams since a very young age, when family friend Paul Hobbs discovered her natural discerning palate and encouraged her to pursue the field. She is now an award-winning winemaker who specializes in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
