An impeccable Chianti Classico Riserva from Italy's renowned Tuscan region
One of the most highly regarded of all Italian Chianti Classico producers, Fontodi is a benchmark winery of the Tuscan Chianti region and is specifically situated in the valley of Conca d’Oro (the Golden Basin), just south of the town of Panzano. Vines have been cultivated in this region since the time of the Roman Empire, making Fontodi’s location historically significant and rich with Italian tradition. The Manetti family purchased Fontodi in 1968 and today Giovanni Manetti runs the winery with the help of esteemed winemaker Franco Bernabei. Together, they have made Fontodi a pioneer for the revival of the Tuscan Chianti wines and were one of the first to create a Sangiovese-Cabernet blend with their single vineyard Riserva Vigne del Sorbo, which is only crafted in great vintages and is among the best Chianti Classicos on the market. Since 1998, Manetti and Bernabei have been utilizing their newly renovated state-of-the-art facility, which allows them to achieve wines of even greater quality by managing the vinification process more carefully through an ultra-modern, multi-level gravity operated system. Fontodi has consistently garnered remarkable international praise with wines that no Italophile should be without.
