This estate is famous for producing exceptional Bordeaux varietals and has some of the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines in Sonoma County.

A biodynamic estate winery nestled in the rolling hills of Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, Eco Terreno Wines was established by winemaker Mark Lyon in 2012. From his estate vineyard at the northern end of the Valley, Lyon crafts expressive, awardwinning wines with unbridled passion and an authentic reflection of place.

Mark Lyon purchased his 149-acre vineyard property in 1980, with vines originally planted by Rodney Strong. The estate is famous for producing exceptional Bordeaux varietals and has some of the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines in Sonoma County.

While pursuing his winemaking career (Lyon spent 37 years at Sebastiani Vineyards), he recognized the benefits of holistic farming practices and successfully transitioned his estate vineyard, Eco Terreno, to be certified biodynamic and organic. Today, his use of cover crops, bee gardens, and animal husbandry support the native habitats and biodiversity of his Alexander Valley vineyard, while producing wines that are unique, expressive, and reflective of the land; in fact, in Spanish, Eco Terreno means ‘of the land.’ We congratulate Mark Lyon’s holistic approach, and proudly share his latest achievement with you. Cheers!
