Santa Ynez Valley AVA
Crafting beautiful boutique wines from California's Central Coast
Founded in 2009 by winemaker Steven Gerbac, Dolina Wines proudly crafts small lots of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that showcase the essence of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation, located within the Santa Ynez Valley of California’s Central Coast. The name ‘Dolina’ means ‘Valley’ in Croatian and represents the Valley from which these wines are made.
Growing up on the Central Coast, Steven Gerbac was introduced to the wine industry at an early age. His mother worked at Gainey Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley and, as a child, he would often tag along on wine tours or help out at their various events. At the age of 14, Steven completed his eighth grade science project on malolactic fermentation - with the help of Central Coast winemaking pioneer Rick Longoria. He was fascinated with the industry and began working at various local wineries where he gained experience with some of the top winemakers in the area. At Whitcraft Winery in Santa Barbara, Steven developed an interest in crafting vineyard designate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and at Brander Vineyards in Santa Ynez Valley, he gained an appreciation for making wine in the classic Old World style. In 2003, Steven took a production assistant job at Rusack Vineyards and eventually worked his way up to Cellar Master, Assistant Winemaker, and finally, to Winemaker in 2012. He still holds this position today.
Dolina Wines was created in 2009 when Steven decided to take his passion a step further. He had been yearning to create a label that focused on vineyard designate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Sta. Rita Hills, and with the encouragement of his now wife Lisa, turned this dream into a reality. Lisa had also been involved in the industry, with nearly fourteen years of wine marketing experience. Together, they are crafting some beautiful wines from California’s Central Coast and enjoying growing their ultra boutique label. We hope you enjoy this selection from Dolina Wines.
