Gold Series Plus Selection - Best of Class and Double Gold Medal winner
For as long as Domenic Carinalli Jr. can remember, home winemaking has been a part of his Italian family heritage. His father, Domenic Carinalli, Sr. was born in Italy and enjoyed making wine with his family in the small town of Germasino. He came to America in the early 1920’s to find new opportunity for his family and established a farm in Sebastopol of Sonoma County, California. The Carinalli family milked cows, made homemade cheeses, churned butter and of course, produced wine for the family dinner table. The art of making wine and the science of growing grapes struck a chord with Domenic Carinalli Jr., and in the mid-1990’s he decided to take the small family venture to the next level. With his wife Lynda, Domenic began making Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Grigio, which responded well to Sonoma’s excellent soil and cool climate conditions. They established a private label in 1996, and named the estate D&L Carinalli Vineyards. The Carinallis planted vineyards over the next ten years, and today manage about 100 acres of estate grown fruit on the family ranch in Sonoma. Joined by winemaker Evelyn White, D&LCarinalli Vineyards has turned out a number of award-winning wines, and they continue to garner top-notch medals even when competing against more expensive wines from big-name wineries. Domenic and Lynda find their winery very rewarding as they continue an agricultural legacy that will continue through the generations with their children and grandchildren.
