They strive to highlight the best attributes of their grapes and vineyard in their wines.

Founded in 2015 by husband and wife team Mark DeWitt and Andrea Solis, DeWitt Vineyard is located in the Sierra Foothills of California, an area that was first made famous during California’s Gold Rush but is now the source of several premium wineries offering a wide range of grape varieties and wine styles. Many of these wineries are too small to have distribution options outside the immediate area, making these hidden gems incredibly hard to find, but definitely worth the effort if you ever find yourself in the region.

The basis of DeWitt Vineyard started in 2001 when the current DeWitt generation bought the existing 3DW Ranch and immediately planted ten acres of it to what is now known as the DeWitt Vineyard. Located in Amador County, just outside of the Shenandoah Valley, the property sees hot summer days, cool afternoon breezes and Sierra series loam soils - ideal conditions for growing premium wine grapes. The vineyard is currently planted to a range of Portuguese and Rhône varietals, and it has proven to be a prime location for growing outstanding grapes - most of which are sold to award-winning wineries from Amador County to Napa Valley (Scott Harvey, Zucca Mountain, Redwood, Cantiga, Borjon, and Quady to name a few.

After fifteen-plus years of working the vineyard and following the wines produced by others using the DeWitt Vineyard grapes, the DeWitts have become intimately familiar with the flavor profiles and terroir of their vineyard. In 2015, they decided to start their own program of wines, using grapes exclusively grown on their estate vineyard. They strive to highlight the best attributes of their grapes and vineyard in their wines, and hope that others enjoy the wines as much as they do.

DeWitt Vineyard currently produces three varietals (Tempranillo, Syrah, and Touriga Nacional) and, in total, only releases around 200 cases each year. Not only are these wines made in extremely limited quantities, but most have garnered Silver, Gold, and Double Gold Medals in state competitions - making them highly desirable releases. We are happy to share this ultra-boutique Sierra Foothills winery with our Garagiste Wine Club members and hope you enjoy their excellent 2015 Tempranillo. Cheers!
