Coombsville AVA
Napa Valley, North Coast
Coombsville is one of the newest AVA (American Viticultural Areas) within the larger Napa Valley wine region. Officially recognized in 2011, this area is the closest to San Francisco of the 16 AVAs in Napa Valley, California. It offers a diverse grape growing environment mostly planted on hills called “rolling benchlands.”
The appellation goes from near sea level elevation to 1,900 feet up in the Vaca Mountain Range. The handful of wineries in the area offer a laid back tasting experience with most wineries requesting reservations in advance. Planted on approximately 228 vineyard acres you will find a variety of grapes including; Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah.
