Bottle April 1990. The only Double Gold Award given to a Sauvignon Blanc at the prestigious San Francisco Fair National Wine Competition. This means all 30 judges awarded a Gold Medal, all agreeing the wine was the best at the show. The wine was produced by an ever growing popular technique called "canopy management," which allows more concentrated sun exposure on the grapes. This results in wines with a broad spectrum of full ripe flavors - lemon, melon, pineapple and hints of herbs.
This 1989 vintage was aged in oak for 4 months and is a blend of 92% Sauvignon Blanc, and 8% Sémillon. Shellfish, grilled seafood, especially heavier, meatier fish, is an outstanding complement. Also try pasta with sauteed fresh vegetables or cream sauce. Always great with chicken.
