Produced from the John Sebastiano Vineyard and Melville Vineyards, the Weatherborne 2012 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir is an earthy, savory wine beautifully and accurately representing the terroir of this renowned Central Coast appellation. Winemaker and founder Cris Carter only makes one wine each year – the best wine he can make, using the most minimalist winemaking methods and sourcing grapes from among the region’s finest vineyards. His 2012 bottling is especially significant, as it not only represents his first Weatherborne vintage, but it also earned some hefty press from top reviewers.
This 2012 Pinot Noir opens with aromas of raspberries, red currants, rhubarb, graphite and spice. The palate is bright and lively with notes of sweet fruit, dried fig, savory herbs, and anise leading into a soft and elegant finish.
