Located in the Helderberg mountain range in the well-known Stellenbosch area, Waterford Winery is owned by the Ord and Arnold families. Each vintage of Kevin Arnold Shiraz is named after one of the children; the 2003 vintage is dedicated to Katherine Leigh — the daughter of Jeremy Ord.
This wine was awarded 90 Points in the International Wine Cellar: “Bright ruby-red. Exotic aromas of black raspberry, roasted meat, flowers, tobacco and nuts, with savage notes of leather and cigar ash. Sweet, lush and seamless, with impressive breadth to the flavors of black raspberry, smoked meat, leather and truffle. Dusty, late-arriving tannins give this a firm edge. Should make a flexible dinner table companion.” This Shiraz shows just how great South African wine can be.
