Crafted from a select plot of Old Vine grapes in one of the highest quality areas in Valtuille, the Vinos Valtuille 2017 ‘Cabanelas’ Mencía is one of the García family’s most prized bottlings. The fruit for this wine comes from one of the family’s oldest vineyards that was planted in 1925, which provides layers of rich complexity in the finished wine. Deep red in color, this wine offers powerful aromas with notes of blackberries, raspberries, plumb, incense, black pepper, forest
floor and hints of minerality. The palate is full-bodied with a big mouthfeel and flavors of black fruits and spice. Nicely balanced with fine tannins, this wine is a fine addition to any cellar. Enjoy!

Empanada Gallega (Galician Pork and Pepper Pie)
A large two-crusted savory pie from Galicia, the Spanish empanada is typically filled with fish or meat, red or green peppers, and lots of onion. Substitute pizza dough if you're pressed for time, though the pastry crust is easy to make.

Sopa de Lentejas (Spanish Lentil Soup)
Every family in Spain has its own version of lentil soup (sopa de lentejas). Keeping that in mind, this recipe is one of the most classic ways to prepare it. Use this as a base and, once mastered, feel free to make any changes you'd like to better suit you and your family's tastes.
