Produced from the Van Ruiten Family’s own Lodi Kettleman Ranch Vineyard, the 2009 Old Vine Zinfandel is the product of hand selected fruit from the first vineyard John Van Ruiten, Sr. planted over 50 years ago. These grapes are among the family’s most prized fruit, and each year the wine from these grapes is one of Lodi’s most sought after Zinfandels.
Packed full of concentrated flavors of blackberry, cherry and blueberry jam, the 2009 Old Vine Zinfandel also has oak-barrel influences resulting in subtle notes of coffee, cedar, and anise. Rich tannins complement the jammy raspberry fruits that linger on the long finish. The Beverage Tasting Institute awards this top-notch wine 91 Points, a Gold Medal, and names it a Best Buy: “Aromas of chocolate nuts, clay, and dried currants with a supple fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body and a tangy, pepper, creamy vanilla and apple finish. A nicely balanced sipper.” Try pairing the Van Ruiten 2009 Old Vine Zinfandel with beef stew, pizza, or your favorite casserole.
