The Van Ruiten 2002 Reserve Chardonnay is made in a classic California style. The wine is nicely oaked, but still keeps an eye on its well-defined fruit from start to finish. Aromas of apple pulp, sweet lemons and creamy oak. This delightful Chardonnay brings together flavors of ripe apples, creamy oak, vanilla and toasty spice with a good sense of overall proportion and balance. The finish is smooth, rich and fruity with convincing depth to hold up with broiled salmon; ready to enjoy right now.

A portion of this wine was fermented and aged in small French oak barrels for 10 months, with the balance fermented in stainless steel tanks. This allows the wine to retain its fruitiness while capturing the complex character from the barrels.
