Spätburgunder is Germany's word for Pinot Noir - "spät" is the German word for "late" (the grape ripens relatively late in the fall), and "burgunder" references the grape originating in Burgundy, France. Germany is now the world's third largest producer of Pinot Noir, and is continuing to earn exceptional international praise for the wine's success in the country - especially from regions such as Ahr, Pfalz, and Baden- Württemberg.
The Stromberg-Zabergäu 2015 Epos Spätburgunder was produced from hand harvested grapes in Württemberg, Germany and aged in a large wooden cask for 9 months. Deep and richly colored, this wine offers a full body with complex fruit flavors that will perfectly accompany hearty meat dishes.
