After recognizing the exceptional quality of the hillside plantings near the top of the Star Lane Vineyard, Jim Dierberg created the concept of Astral and began producing a special wine from these higher elevated hillside blocks. The Star Lane 2006 Astral blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc to craft a distinctive Bordeaux-style blend from the Santa Ynez Valley.
Black cherry, cassis, violets and dark purple aromatics flirt with the senses, while focused dark berries produce a beautiful core of flavors with hints of mocha and cocoa unfolding on the palate. A gorgeously dense, rich wine that captures one of Star Lane Vineyard's best achievements.
