Who would have guessed that a kid from Amherst, Massachusetts, with degrees in Italian and Animal Sciences (Pre-Veterinary) would end up in Santa Barbara County as an up-and-coming winemaker? Benjamin Silver did just that after catching the wine bug at a summer job at Chicama Vineyards on Martha's Vineyard. Upon graduating, Benjamin moved west and began working at Santa Barbara's Zaca Mesa Winery under iconic visionary winemaker Daniel Gehrs. On the side, he began experimenting with his own small-lot wines, a hobby that laid the foundation for his namesake project, Silver Wines. In 2000, Benjamin officially launched Silver Wines, focusing on microproduction, terroir-driven wines from special vineyard sites in Santa Barbara County. The Silver 2019 Rosé of Pinot Noir opens with aromas of delicate rose petals, white flowers and ripe strawberry fruit. Bright, ripe and smooth, this Rosé shows surprising layers of fruit depth and darker fruits on the palate - so much so, that it could be mistaken for a red table wine!
