The Ryan Cochrane 2015 Pinot Noir comes from the Solomon Hills Vineyard, the western-most vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley appellation. Garnet in color, this Pinot has lovely aromas of strawberry, red cherry, bark, anise and oak spice, along with prevalent bay leaf, green peppercorn and pine resin. Those elements converge on the sip to make a cranberry, spicy herb and eucalyptus nut tea, which is tangy and complex. Elegant, with lacy tannins, this wine persists with staying power on the cherry-fueled finish.
