Quinta da Pedra Alta's 2011 Branco Reserva is a fresh, soft and balanced white blend comprised of three Portuguese wine grape varietals - Malvasia Fina, Rabigato, and Gouveio.
Malvasia Fina is traditionally light and fresh with complex notes of nutmeg and molasses. It is often used as a blending varietal when producing white Port wines. Rabigato offers nice acidity, freshness, minerality, and structure with aromas of acacia and orange blossom flowers. Gouveio produces a fuller bodied white wine with citrus aromas and notes of peach and anise. Together, this blend of varietals has produced a wonderfully fruity and floral white wine with a smooth, well balanced palate and a fresh yet lingering finish.
Wine Regions of the World
All six of our wine of the month clubs include wines from a multitude of wine growing regions, and as the French say, the concept of terroir is paramount. This idea stretches well beyond France and is a large contributing factor for wines produced in all wine regions around the world.
