A blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Petite Verdot, and 16% Malbec, the Pono 2012 "Hapa" Red Wine was produced from vineyards in California’s Napa Valley. The 2012 “Hapa,” which means ‘mixed’ or ‘blend’ in Hawaiian, is dark purple in color with aromas of big briary fruit, spice, cedar, and vanilla. Flavors of ripe cherry and blueberry round out the palate that is supported by supple, polished tannins.

You will notice that the Pono wines are wax-dipped, but not to worry - use a cork screw as you normally would, screwing through the wax top into the cork and pulling it straight out of the bottle. No need to cut the wax.

Wine Regions of the World

All six of our wine of the month clubs include wines from a multitude of wine growing regions, and as the French say, the concept of terroir is paramount. This idea stretches well beyond France and is a large contributing factor for wines produced in all wine regions around the world.
