PumpJack’s 2018 Merlot comes from the acclaimed Oak Knoll region of Napa Valley, in a vineyard nestled up to the Mayacamas Mountain Range on the west side of the valley. The mild climate and alluvial soils in this pocket allow the grapes to develop bright aromatics and flavors, along with beautiful natural acidity, which results in wines of great balance, structure, and elegance.
On the nose, this Merlot offers complex aromas of black cherry, boysenberry jam, plum, and freshly cut flowers, along with hints of cardamom, nutmeg, and just a touch of cocoa and vanilla that provide depth and intrigue. The palate too has great depth and complexity with flavors of red cherries, muddled berries and dried herbs, a creamy texture, and silky tannins that are complimented by a fresh, vibrant acidity.
