The Petrified Forest 2011 Merlot comes from Ken and Susan Piters’ Totem Ridge Vineyards in the Knights Valley appellation of Sonoma County. Smooth and elegant with red fruit notes of dried cranberry, raspberry, and strawberry jam, this wine is compelling and nuanced with great balance and complexity. Framing the mouthwatering fruit are toasty oak notes of chocolate and caramel that linger on the full and lasting finish.
