Truly representative of the Penny's Hill Mclaren Vale terroir, the 2018 'Cracking Black' Shiraz pays homage to the Bay of Biscay soils which contribute to the mighty wines produced from this region. These relatively infertile cracking, grey-black soils are especially present at the Penny's Hill Malpas Road Vineyard, from which this wine was produced. On the nose, this Shiraz is oozing with dark fruits and plum notes, layered with mocha, oak spice, and licorice with finely integrated oak. The bold palate shows great depth and generosity with soft tannins wrapped around the core of dark fruit before leading into a finish with exceptional length and character. Enjoy!
