Proprietor Claus Janzen had an inkling that wine consumers were ready for a new blend and in 1999 Pazzo: a crowd-pleasing Sangiovese based blend that’s bursting with flavor, unpretentious in style, and thoroughly enjoyable to consume. It was an instant success!
Over the years, Pazzo has evolved to incorporate a number of different varietals, but stays true to its Sangiovese core and lively fruit character that have made it so popular today. Pazzo, which means ‘crazy’ in Italian, has also gained a following with the wine press and continuously earns notable ratings and distinguished awards at various competitions.
Robert Parker awards the 2008 Pazzo 90 POINTS: “The sexy, seductive 2008 Pazzo, a provocative blend of Sangiovese and other grapes. Always spicy, slightly herbal, but with loads of red and black fruits, the wine is delicious, savory, and lot of fun to drink. Claus Janzen continues to turn out one of the best values in Napa. Outstanding!”
