Opolo’s 2012 Pinot Gris comes from Opolo’s warmer east side vineyard that sees long, warm days with plenty of sunshine for ripening this distinctive white varietal. In Italy, the Pinot Gris grape is known as Pinot Grigio and it produces a traditionally dry white wine in the northern regions of the country. The Pinot Gris of California are often similar in style to those of Italy, yielding refreshing food-friendly wines with crisp flavors and incredibly expressive aromas – it’s no wonder these wines continue to grow in popularity year after year.
Opolo’s 2012 Pinot Gris is rich and complex, with fresh aromas of peaches and melons and hints of tropical fruit nuances. On the palate, the wine is crisp and nicely balanced with fresh fruit flavors, a unique butterscotch toastiness (from the barrel aging), earthy spices, and refreshing acidity. A delicious, easy drinking wine that will pair with an array of your favorite meals – we recommend pairing the 2012 Pinot Gris with Asian Spiced Beef Tacos. Opolo’s 2012 Pinot Gris is a New Release (not even available at the winery yet!), so the reviews are forthcoming.
