This just-released Mayo Family Cabernet immediately won a Gold Medal at the important Sonoma County Harvest Fair in October, 1998. This wine was only one of only five Cabernets awarded a Gold Medal at that very significant competition. Because of extremely limited availability, it will not be entered into any other judgings.

For all you Cabernet fans, this one is rich, powerful and complex. The flavors are showing a wonderful combination of ripe boysenberry and blackberry fruit, with a hint of mint on the mid-palate all wrapped inside a spicy cloak of vanilla and cedar. This muscle-bound wine will easily age and develop for another ten years. Made entirely from one of the finest Cabernet vineyards in Sonoma County— Los Chamizal.
