For all blends, Markus starts with the darkest and boldest variety as the base, adding layers of structure, color, richness and elegance from varieties on the map. The bottled result of this 2017 Nero Red Blend shows rich, yet dry, concentrated black fruits with Rhône-like attributes of earthiness, smokiness and meatiness. It’s firm in texture, a bit chewy due to good tannins, and shows good breadth on the palate as well as impressive length on the finish.
