Madroña started producing Malbec in 1993 for one reason - to blend! Initially part of the ‘Quintet’ Bordeaux-style blend, the Malbec added aromatics and beautiful color to the wine. But, it was obvious from its first harvest that Madroña’s mountain Malbec was something special and deserved to shine on its own. A blend of plantings from the Enyé Vineyard, the 2018 Malbec is garnet in color with aromas of cherry and blueberry with hints of wild blackberry and a touch of earthiness. Silky on the entry, this wine floods the mouth with sweet cherry fruit that seems to soften away on the finish, leaving the tannins holding their own nicely. This is clearly a high-elevation Malbec where the fruit and boldness are balanced by the structure. Enjoy!
