Macauley’s 2012 Old Vine Zinfandel is the epitome of what fanatics of this California varietal will enjoy. With fruit sourced from various sights within Napa Valley, this luscious wine is comprised of 94% Old Vine Zinfandel and 6% Petite Sirah.
An absolute beauty, this garnet-violet colored wine begins with incredibly brooding fruit and a concentrated nose of deep plum, black fruits, bright blackberry, raspberry, cherry, and just a hint of pepper spice. The palate has great command with fantastic balance, polished acidity, and an expansive range of mouth filling flavors including plush plum, blackberry, lush kirsch, and hints of espresso spice.
Beverage Testing Institute says, “This is what Zinfandel is all about, pure pleasure,” and winemaker Kirk Venge even noted, “This is as close to a perfect Zinfandel I think I have ever made”.

Lamb Ragout on Whole Wheat Pasta
The seasoning on the sauce is more Middle Eastern than Italian. The sweetness of the roasted peppers, mint, cinnamon and allspice intensify the juiciness of the wine. You can serve the sauce over regular pasta, but the dish is best when made with whole-wheat pasta or buckwheat, if you can find it.View Recipe
