“For me, this is our signature wine; a real ‘take it to your table’ fine wine which I am proud of,” boasts winemaker Larry Langbehn of his Ledgewood Creek 2009 GSM. This classic Rhône-style red blend is comprised of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre (hence, the name GSM), each varietal lending its own expression and characteristics to the final wine. The Mourvedre tends to be fruity and super concentrated, the Syrah has great structure, and the Grenache brings a unique aroma and texture, and it’s how these three wines blend together that is really magical.
Winemaker Larry Langbehn says the 2009 GSM is a ‘restrained, pretty wine with an initial dusty, smoky, spicy character. There are generous aromas of blueberries, currants, dark maraschino cherries and hints of yellow plum.’ The GSM has a soft velvety texture with nice expressions of dark chocolate, cocoa powder and coffee notes that are balanced by cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. A delicious pairing to pork tenderloin or pork chops!
