This wine was produced in the French wine appellation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, one of the most renowned appellations of the southern Rhône Valley. Here, the large majority of wines produced are red, with Grenache leading in the number of vineyard plantings, and followed closely by Syrah and Mourvedre.
The Lavau 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre, creating a complex yet elegant wine with notes of spicy fruit, dense, dark cherry, plum, and black currant. Hints of bakers chocolate and leather linger on the smooth finish.
