The Keplinger 2015 ‘Mars’ Red Blend comes from a rocky red slope where nothing more than struggling grapevines grow in the Moon Mountain AVA; it’s a site that makes Helen Keplinger feel like she’s on the planet Mars. On the nose, the ever-evolving aromatics show blackberry, violets, star anise, cardamom, black pepper, and tangerine zest, while the palate opens with super-fine, mouth-coating tannins and a blend of juicy, floral, mineral, and silky nuances - all harmoniously blended together.
