This Gold Medal winner is a traditional blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, made solely from estate grown Alexander Valley grapes. Fermentation of the wine took place in small open top barrels. After blending, fining with egg white and lightly filtering, it was bottled on August 11, 1990. One full year of bottle aging was allowed to further enhance this wine prior to release.

The result of this crafting is a wine that offers aromas of currants, black cherry, and a hint of chocolate. "The '88 Cabernet Sauvignon is our most elegant wine to date," reports V.P. Christine Hanna, "the wine is very pleasurable now and will continue to improve for the next 5 to 10 years."
