This medium-bodied 2016 Sangiovese is a product of the well-established Matagrano Vineyard located in the El Dorado AVA of the Sierra Foothills. Grown at an altitude of 700 feet, this wine offers plentiful cherry and blackberry flavors, an excellent texture that is smooth on the palate and light tannins on the finish. Aged in assorted cooperage, (50% French Oak, 25% American Oak and 25% Neutral Oak) the wine comes in at a hefty 15.3% alcohol. Perfect for drinking with a hearty dish of braised lamb shanks.

Braised Pork Shanks
Amazingly tender and succulent braised pork shanks from Niner Wine Estates. Easier than it sounds, this dish can also be made in a slow cooker. The rich flavors of the juicy pork pair perfectly with a glass of Niner's 2003 Sangiovese.
