A valuable vino! This fine handcrafted 2009 Chardonnay comes from Sonoma’s world renowned Russian River Valley, and with its powerful, complex array of aromas and flavors, you'll have to look twice at the price to believe it (just $20 winery direct). Winemaker Brad Longton worked with Clay Fritz to make an artisan-style wine that people both could easily identify with, and afford -- and there is no doubt he achieved that goal with the 2009 Russian River Valley Chardonnay.
This wine opens up with an intense bouquet of lemon zest, orange blossom, and papaya, as well as subtle layers of limestone and flint. Bright acidity marries seamlessly with a rich silky texture and presents a backdrop for flavors of fresh tropical fruits and a hint of vanilla bean. Don't miss the lingering flavors of ripe apricot on the finish.
The 2009 Chardonnay was awarded a pair of top honors at the San Francisco International Wine Competition, including the award for "Best Chardonnay" and a Double Gold Medal. Try pairing this wonderfully balanced, refreshing Chardonnay with a creamy pasta dish or chicken piccata.
