When establishing Fiddlehead Cellars, owner/winemaker Kathy Joseph was determined to find a place where Pinot Noir was at its absolute best - she believes she found that place in her own Fiddlestix Vineyard in the Santa Rita Hills. The 2008 'Seven Twenty Eight' Pinot Noir comes from a specific block in Fiddlestix Vineyard at mile marker 7.28 on Santa Rosa Road, and it is this place that Pinot Noir shines in all its glory.
Kathy named the wine 'Seven Twenty Eight' to recognize its "roots" and to give reason to its distinctive personality. The 2008 'Seven Twenty Eight' Pinot Noir shows its signature spice of black cherry cola, star anise, black pepper and dusty aromatics. Its buttery mouth-coating tannins dance on the palate and linger with elegance and grace.
This Pinot's richness and yet restrained expression remind us of those historically exceptional homes for Burgundian wines. Wine & Spirits magazine says, "this wine is all about supple richness. It's a sleek and generous Pinot."
