Dragonette’s 2012 Pinot Noir was produced from a blend of several top vineyard sites in the Santa Rita Hills appellation, including John Sebastiano, Fiddlestix, La Encantada, Zotovich, Radian, and Bentrock. Each vineyard was carefully selected for its ability to add unique yet complimentary characteristics to the final blend, and the result was an excellent Pinot Noir with textural purity, complexity and balance.
On the nose, the wine combines classic Santa Rita Hills notes of dark black cherry, fresh raspberry and strawberry, kirsch, along with baking spices, cacao, hints of fresh herbs and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, this Pinot Noir is concentrated and intense with ripe red fruit flavors and notes of rhurbarb, dried herbs and wood smoke. Round, ripe tannins provide a nice structure and energy on the long finish.
