Domenico’s 2006 Aglianico was produced from the winery’s Sutter Creek Vineyard in Amador County, California. Aglianico is an Italian varietal, mostly grown in the Basilicata and Campania regions of Italy, with limited plantings recently developed in parts of California and Australia.
Its deep garnet color, rich, full bodied style, and pronounced fruit flavors make it full of aging potential and a wonderful choice for pairing with food. Domenico has crafted a robust wine with their 2006 Aglianico, bursting with aromas and flavors of cherry cola and black currant, with barrel spice lingering in the background.
This Aglianico is a perfect match with rich meats such as lamb or heavily marbled rib-eye steaks. Also one of the winery’s most highly awarded offerings, the 2006 Aglianico has garnered a Platinum Medal at the Critic’s Challenge, a Double Gold Medal at the National Women’s Wine Competition, a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, and a Gold Medal at the Best of Appellation America Competition.
